2019 Wadsworth

Two Wadsworth vintages in a row?  Usually this wine only emerges in 6 year intervals but as with many things over the last few years, we’ve learned to expect the unexpected.

This is a true “unicorn” wine, a rare special bottling of Chardonnay from the Corton clone from our Clos Electrique vineyard.  One barrel is chosen only when we feel that it rises above every other chardonnay in the cellar.

The 2019 Wadsworth is rich and unctuous with notes of honeysuckle and lemon macarons.  The 2 years on yeast lees imparts a creamy mouth feel and long finish.  This wine will hold its own in a lineup of great white burgundies.

The label, designed by Julian Paul, represents an opium poppy, which his pharmacologist mom, Teri Wadsworth grows every year in her flower garden.
